Mr. Pitt Business is a professional male competition and talent show that is held annually during the fall semester. It is a CBA-wide event that involves many of the business organizations within the College of Business Administration. This event was founded in 2011 by PBL alumna, Sarah Weber. Students represent business organizations with an incentive of a cash prize to the top three contestants with first place’s organization also receiving money. Mr. Pitt Business also donates a portion of the money raised through the event to a charitable foundation. The event is structured around a “theme” and implements a panel of judges to evaluate the contestants. The panel of judges consists of four professors who teach different majors within the CBA curriculum.
The event starts off with the contestants performing a group dance to a song related to the theme of the event. Next, an individual talent portion where the contestants perform a unique talent or skill they possess for the judges. After the talent portion is the runway portion where the contestants wear attire related to the theme of the event and walk down the runway with their female escort. The final portion of the night is the question and answer session where contestants are asked a variety of business-related questions and their responses are graded by the panel of judges.
